Area briefs: UGA students finish finals, Hull Council sets special election date

Today marks the end of spring semester final exams at UGA, with the University of Georgia putting the finishing touches on the plans for Friday evening’s undergraduate graduation exercises in Sanford Stadium.

The City Council in Hull sets November 5 as the date for special election to fill the unexpired term of Council member Kathy Connell, who passed away earlier this year. The winner will get the Post 3 seat on the Hull City Council.

The Foundation for the Jefferson-based Jackson EMC has donated $150 thousand to the Foundation of the Gainesville-based Northeast Georgia Health System.

A 39 year-old woman from Greene County is arrested in Morgan County: Nicole Lambert, who worked as a school parapro, is accused of having alcohol on the campus of Morgan County Middle School in Madison.

There are child molestation allegations for a man arrested in Gainesville: Gladimyer Laurore was booked into the Hall County jail after allegedly beating and threatening to kill a 14 year-old girl.

A man from Tennessee is arrested on drug trafficking charges in Hall County. Jordan Hammontree is 34 years old, from Newport Tennessee. Hall County drug agents say he was caught with methamphetamine and fentanyl.
